A&D digital blood pressure monitor
The automatic digital blood pressure monitor offers self-measurement of blood pressure and pulse at the push of a button. Its one-step, auto-inflate feature gives you a fast but professional measurement in the comfort of your own home. A key feature of the automatic digital blood pressure monitor is its large, easy-to-read display screen which shows your pulse rate and blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) simultaneously.
• British Hypertension Society approved
• advanced one button operation
• fully automatic inflation and deflation
• large digital display (heart and pulse rates in 16mm digital characters)
• simultaneous display of pressure and pulse
• professional accuracy at home
The blood pressure monitor comes with a large-print illustrated instruction guide and a quick start card. The monitor requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included). The battery life is approximately four months with one daily measurement. The monitor is available in a universal cuff size, fitting arms measuring 18-32 cm.
Blood pressure measurements determined with this device are equivalent to those obtained by a trained observer using the cuff/stethoscope auscultation method within the limits prescribed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI/AAMI SP10) for electronic sphygmomanometers.
Health benefits
The automatic digital blood pressure monitor allows you to measure your blood pressure and pulse quickly and easily. It gives you an accurate professional reading in the comfort of your own home. The fact that you can use the monitor at home means that your blood pressure readings are less likely to be distorted by ‘white coat hypertension’ (fear of doctors and/or the hospital environment, which can sometimes contribute to higher blood pressure readings).
The automatic digital blood pressure monitor inflates at the touch of a button, and deflates automatically. That makes it ideal for people who don’t like having their blood pressure taken and who want to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
The large digital display makes the automatic digital blood pressure monitor particularly suitable for people who struggle to see small monitors. It shows clear blood pressure and pulse readings, both in 16mm high characters.
The automatic digital blood pressure monitor can help you monitor the impact of lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet or exercise regime, on your blood pressure. The monitor is suitable for:
• people with high blood pressure
• people with low blood pressure
• people who are concerned about their blood pressure
• people who sometimes find their blood pressure readings are higher due to the stress of a hospital or clinic environment

Advice
Please read the product packaging before use, and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Taking your blood pressure
To take an accurate blood pressure reading, you might find the following tips useful:
• relax for five minutes before you start
• unless your doctor tells you otherwise, take a reading using your left arm
• remove any bulky or restricting clothing from your upper arm before you begin
• always place the cuff on your bare arm (not over clothes)
• stay still and quiet with your feet flat on the floor while you take a reading (talking or moving during measurement can increase your reading or cause an error)
• always use the correct size of cuff (a cuff that is too small will result in a higher reading and a cuff that is too large will result in a lower reading)
• monitor your blood pressure in the same manner, at the same time of day, every day (blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day)
• record your blood pressure in a log book or in the device memory as systolic/diastolic pressure (e.g.132/78) along with a record of the date and time and your pulse rate
Once you're ready to begin measuring your blood pressure:
• hold the cuff open with the tube pointing downward
• slide the cuff onto your upper arm
• position the cuff with its tubing over the brachial artery and aligned with small finger
• the lower edge of the cuff should be about 1” from your elbow
• fasten the cuff so it feels snug but not tight (you should be able to fit two fingers between your arm and the cuff)
• position your arm so that the cuff is at heart level
• press the start or power button to start the inflation
• the cuff will deflate automatically once it has taken the measurement
• the display monitor will then show your blood pressure and pulse
If you wish to take a second reading, you should turn off the monitor, remove the cuff, shake your arm to allow your arteries to return to their normal shape and relax for five minutes.
