Advanced manual inflate blood pressure monitor
Product detail
The advanced manual inflate blood pressure monitor displays blood pressure and pulse rate simultaneously. It’s easy to see at a glance whether your blood pressure has improved, as the monitor stores your last 30 blood pressure readings in its memory. It also displays averages from the readings you have stored in its memory.
Two key features of the advanced manual inflate blood pressure monitor are the Pressure Rating Indicator™ and the Irregular Heartbeat feature. The Pressure Rating Indicator™ provides a snapshot of your blood pressure classification based on your measurements. This eliminates the guesswork about what your blood pressure measurements mean and whether they are healthy. The monitor also tells you if you have an irregular heartbeat and it provides an accurate blood pressure and pulse rate reading even when an irregular heartbeat occurs.
Other features of the advanced manual inflate blood pressure monitor include:
• British Hypertension Society approved
• one button operation
• 30 reading memory
• average readings
• large digital display (heart rate in 15mm digital characters, pulse rate in 10mm)
• fast measurement
• latex free
The advanced manual inflate blood pressure monitor measures 3.2" by 4.2" by 2.2" (81mm by 105mm by 54mm). It weights 4.3 oz. (120g) without batteries. The monitor requires one AA battery (included) which will last for approximately 2000 readings. It comes with a large-print illustrated instruction guide and a quick start card. There is also a four-week blood pressure log book included so that you can keep a written record of your blood pressure readings. The monitor is available in a universal cuff size, fitting arms measuring 18-32 cm.
Health benefits
The advanced manual inflate blood pressure monitor can help you monitor the impact of lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet or exercise regime, on your blood pressure. The storage of individual and average readings lets you compare your current readings with previous ones, so you can tell whether your blood pressure is improving over time. The monitor is suitable for:
• people with high blood pressure
• people with low blood pressure
• people who are concerned about their blood pressure
• people who have an irregular heartbeat but wish to monitor their blood pressure
• people who wish to monitor their blood pressure in the comfort of their own home
Advice
Please read the product packaging before use, and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Taking your blood pressure
To take an accurate blood pressure reading, you might find the following tips useful:
• relax for five minutes before you start
• unless your doctor tells you otherwise, take a reading using your left arm
• remove any bulky or restricting clothing from your upper arm before you begin
• always place the cuff on your bare arm (not over clothes)
• stay still and quiet with your feet flat on the floor while you take a reading (talking or moving during measurement can increase your reading or cause an error)
• always use the correct size of cuff (a cuff that is too small will result in a higher reading and a cuff that is too large will result in a lower reading)
• monitor your blood pressure in the same manner, at the same time of day, every day (blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day)
• record your blood pressure in a log book or in the device memory as systolic/diastolic pressure (e.g.132/78) along with a record of the date and time and your pulse rate
Once you're ready to begin measuring your blood pressure:
• hold the cuff open with the tube pointing downward
• slide the cuff onto your upper arm
• position the cuff with its tubing over the brachial artery and aligned with small finger
• the lower edge of the cuff should be about 1” from your elbow
• fasten the cuff so it feels snug but not tight (you should be able to fit two fingers between your arm and the cuff)
• position your arm so that the cuff is at heart level
• press the start or power button to start the inflation
• the cuff will deflate automatically once it has taken the measurement
• the display monitor will then show your blood pressure and pulse
If you wish to take a second reading, you should turn off the monitor, remove the cuff, shake your arm to allow your arteries to return to their normal shape and relax for five minutes.
