Silicone heel cup
Product detail
Silicone heel cups are made of medical grade viscoelastic silicone with a carefully positioned softer blue insert. The silicone will always remain soft and pliable, and retains its shape well. It does not irritate the skin and is odour free. The viscoelastic has a naturally tacky surface on the underside and a fabric cover on top.
The insoles provide full support to the delicate plantar fascia, the ligament that supports your foot arch.
This product is sold as a pair.
Health benefits
The medical grade viscoelastic silicone provides long lasting support and comfort for your feet. The impact-absorbing properties of the silicone cushions the shocks generated by walking and running, reducing the impact and force on your heel, joints, and back. This can help relieve pain and discomfort, and is effective for people who have a high-impact heel strike. The blue inserts are softer for even greater comfort. These are specially placed to help relieve pressure and pain on the most sensitive area of the heel, the plantar fascia.
The plantar fascia is the tough band of connective tissue that runs from the heel bone to the ball of the foot just in front of the toes. This ligament supports the foot arch and it is very prone to inflammation caused by repetitive strain injury. Silicone heel cups protect the plantar fascia, allowing it to recover and heal naturally.
Heel cups are recommended for relieving heel pain if you have fat pad atrophy in your heels. When you have this condition, the fat pad that normally cushions your heel gets thinner and can disappear. To prevent the skeletal vibrations that then occur every time you place your heel on the ground, it is important to wear cushioned insoles that support the heel to prevent and relieve heel and back pain.
The slightly sticky finish on the insole keeps the underside firmly in place in your shoe. The fabric cover helps keep your foot dry and comfortable and is resistant to fungal and bacterial growth.
